The Los Angeles Collaborative of the California Jobs First Initiative Announces $9 Million in Catalyst Predevelopment Grants for 26 Projects

Selected projects represent bold, community-centered approaches to equity, climate action, and inclusive growth across Los Angeles County

June 16, 2025 – Los Angeles, CA – The California Jobs First Los Angeles Collaborative, in partnership with the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC) and the California Community Foundation (CCF) has announced the grantees of the Catalyst Predevelopment Phase, a $9 million funding initiative supporting 26 projects across Los Angeles region that will drive innovation, equity, and community-centered economic growth.

These projects span across 7 industry sectors and 8 Service Planning Areas (SPAs) across Los Angeles County, reflecting the diverse, intersectional priorities of our region. They demonstrate strong potential to advance equitable, climate-resilient development and quality job creation.

“We will see opportunities for training in industries that really the community has not seen with this kind of intention,” said Najuma Smith, Director of Southern California Community Development Corp., who served on the review subcommittee. “Is it going to change the life trajectory of people who get better jobs? Absolutely.”

While 26 projects were ultimately awarded, the Catalyst Predevelopment Phase received an overwhelming response with 127 proposals submitted. This strong turnout reflects the region’s deep commitment to advancing initiatives that create quality jobs and, ultimately, uplift historically disinvested communities.
