ABOUT TOGETHER FOR LA
The ongoing wildfires have devastated over 39,000 acres, destroyed more than 13,000 structures, and displaced thousands of residents, business owners, and workers. With little time to execute contingency plans, many businesses now find themselves without critical records, disrupted supply chains, and limited operational capacity.
To confront this crisis, we have reactivated our “Together for LA” coalition, which helped distribute over $4 billion in aid during the Covid-19 pandemic. By re-activating this coalition, our aim is to provide comprehensive services to assist businesses in Alta Dena, Pacific Palisades, and other impacted areas.
Currently, our business assistance team is working on the front-lines to help owners tackle several challenges. We are helping owners who lost their headquarters, businesses that can no longer meet customer requests, helping employees that are displaced and on the brink of unemployment, and owners who are facing cash flow shortages threating the very existence of their business. Ultimately, hundreds of businesses will close forever if they don’t receive the right assistance at the right time.
In response to these challenges, we have taken on the following actions:
- We’re rapidly mobilizing a pro bono network of CPAs and attorneys to provide guidance in applying for aid, filing insurance claims and accessing other benefits
- Launching the trusted ‘go to’ resource portal to serves as a one-stop shop for financial, insurance, legal and operational resources
- Collaborating with local, state and federal government and community leaders to streamline services across the region
- Providing one-on-one technical assistance to businesses impacted by the fires
- Dedicated LAEDC booths at regional aid locations where victims are turning to for help
While these efforts are making an impact right now, they must be sustained to ensure we can maximize impact. We are looking to hire additional staff to expand our capacity to deliver these critical services to help businesses rebuild and recover.
To increase our capacity in this moment of unprecedented crisis, we are requesting $100,000 in emergency funding from our partners and funders. This support will help expand our frontline staff who are working tirelessly to help our business community rebuild from the ashes.
We sincerely appreciate your consideration and look forward to working with you and our staff in delivering services that will uplift our business community during this critical time of need.
