Special Session: LA Wildfires Response Update

The LAEDC’s Board of Governors leadership Ron Frierson, Efrain Escobedo, Laurie Sewell, Hale Behzadi and LAEDC’s CEO Stephen Cheung called an emergency meeting to discuss potential relief solutions for those impacted by the devasting LA wildfires. This one-hour meeting discussed the damages of the disaster, which has burned over 38,000 acres and caused estimated economic losses between $150 billion to $200 billion. Data was presented showing that 1,863 small businesses and 11,438 jobs were located within the fire burn zones and are likely to have been directly impacted by the fires. In response to this, the ‘Together for LA’ recovery coalition has been reactivated to aid small businesses.
